Rainy River Senior Activity Centre “The Depot”

October 2022 Newsletter

Leaves are turning to gold and the summer heat has been drifting away. Members are back from their visits with family and the depot is resuming more activities. We were happy to have 8 guests from the Stratton Club to share lunch with after our October 5th General meeting.

Melanie gave us a short presentation about a proposed Senior apartment project for Rainy River. Seniors voiced the need for a place where Seniors could feel safe in a modern and affordable senior community. We received survey forms to fill out and leave with the Municipal Office.

Barb Rousseau will be bringing an assortment of materials to make Christmas cards on Wednesday, October 12. There are a sign-up sheets at the depot for upcoming activities.

Linda is planning a workshop making fall centerpieces.

Norma has applied for a grant to hold a 3-day Seniors Information Fair in November. The fair will be held on three consecutive Thursdays, November 3, 10 and 17. The first one will be focused on Senior’s health on the 3rd.  November 10 will have information on support services and November 17 will have speakers on legal issues for seniors.  There will be a number of presenters at each fair. Watch for a poster in the post office.

We have set December 14 to hold our annual members’ Christmas dinner. We have decided to use the same structure as last year with the choice of dining in the club or pick up meals to take home.

Memberships for 2022-23 may be purchased at the depot.
